Carlos Slim tops Forbes Rich List as richest man in the world - Business News - Business Review USA
Forbes just released its list of the world’s billionaires and Mexican telecommunications mogul Carlos Slim Helu takes the No. 1 spot as the richest man in the world, with a family fortune estimated at $74 billion. Helu owns America Movil, Latin America’s largest wireless carrier, and has spent the last few years in the mining, stock market and real estate industries to gain wealth; his net worth was a mere $53.5 billion last year.
Bill Gates
makes the No. 2 spot with a net worth of $56 billion, even after giving away $30 billion to his Gates Foundation, to fight against hunger, disease and other issues around the globe. According to an article on CNET, 70 percent of Gates’ wealth is locked in an investment fund, with the rest invested in Microsoft stock.Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway) ranks at No. 3 with a net worth of $50 billion, Bernard Arnault (LVMH Group) ranks at No. 4 with a net worth of $41 billion, and Larry Ellison (Oracle) ranks at No. 5 with a net worth of $39.5 billion. There has been a definite trend over the years that technology CEOs and founders are dominating the top rankings in Forbes Rich List (The World’s Billionaires). Case in point: Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg.
It isn’t until you reach No. 10 do you see your first woman topping the list. Christy Walton and her family inherited Walmart’s fortune when her husband John Walton passed away in 2005.
We all need to aspire to be the 1st woman on this list or at least find one of these men and marry them.
