Beyonce Finally Responds To “Countdown” Video Copycat Claims [UPDATE]

beyonce-countdown-video-copying-plagiarism1-300x180[1]

Beyonce and her “Countdown” video have caught some flack after a few viewers noticed that her dance moves and costumes closely resembled that of German choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s 1983 piece ‘Rosas danst Rosas’ and 1990 piece ‘Achterland’.

Keersmaeker called Bey out saying: “I’m not mad, but this is plagiarism. This is stealing. It’s a bit rude.”

Some may call it theft, but Beyonce claims it’s inspiration. She released a statement yesterday saying:

“Clearly, the ballet ‘Rosas danst Rosas’ was one of many references for my video ‘Countdown.’ It was one of the inspirations used to bring the feel and look of the song to life. I was also paying tribute to the film, ‘Funny Face’ with the legendary Audrey Hepburn. My biggest inspirations were the ’60s, the ’70s, Brigitte Bardot, Andy Warhol, Twiggy and Diana Ross. I’ve always been fascinated by the way contemporary art uses different elements and references to produce something unique.”

And there you have it. She’s not denying it, so who are we to judge?

Beyoncé Reveals What Will Make Her “Go Crazy On You!” In Harper’s Bazaar [PHOTOS]

Beyoncé covers the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar and inside, she’s dressed to match her new pregnancy glow, rocking shimmering gold, shiny pink, and bedazzled black while talking about maternity fashion and marriage.

Her closest friends and family, including bestie Gwyneth Paltrow, sister Solange and designers Azzedine Alaïa and Riccardo Tisci weigh in on what Bey will be like as a mother. Read excerpts below:

Beyoncé on her sister Solange:
If you want to see the Third Ward Texas come out in me, disrespect my sister, and I will go completely crazy on you.

Solange on Beyoncé as a mother:
[Beyoncé took Solange's son Daniel, 7, on a week-long trip to Paris alone.] “It was so cute. He was so happy. She took him to Disneyland and to toy stores and carnival rides. She did the whole entire experience with him; she’s so incredibly patient. She’s going to be a phenomenal mother, there’s no question about it. She has always—since I was a baby—been such a nurturer and caretaker and so protective of me.

Beyoncé on her new “eye” for fashion and her style inspirations:
I’ve had so much fun with fashion over the months. I have been pregnant through every event I’ve done, from the Billboard Awards to Glastonbury. All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman. It’s been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant. Flowy fabrics are always flattering, but I still rock my stilettos. I love Kate Moss. I think she has great style. And I always admire Victoria Beckham and Gisele [Bündchen]. Their style is modern but always classic. I spend too much money shopping on the Internet!

Beyoncé on marriage:
We focused three years on our marriage and found that it brought us an even stronger bond and connection. But like anything great and successful in your life, marriage takes hard work and sacrifice. It has to be something both you and your husband deeply want. The best thing about marriage is the amount of growth you have because you can no longer hide from your fears and insecurities. There’s someone right there calling you out on your flaws and building you up when you need the support. If you are with the right person, it brings out the best version of you.
