Iggy Azalea has been buzzing since she released her Ignorant Art mixtape, and its accompanying videos, and now it looks like the 21-year-old, Australia-born rapper might be close to inking a new deal with Def Jam. Iggy met with the Def Jam team, including Rihanna, in Los Angeles this week and all parties seemed to be pleased with the results. While there’s been no official word on a deal just yet, Iggy does confirm that she’s dating Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, telling Vibe that an attempted collaboration turned into something more substantial.On Thursday night (January 12), Azalea tweeted about the meeting, writing, “Had the pleasure of meeting Rihanna at dinner tonight... Had a really fun dinner with all the def jam staff!!! #rolexcrew. She then retweeted excited messages from Def Jam VP Bu, “@bukonvict Just spoke to the homie @IGGYAZALEA and all ima say is #History,” and another A&R “RT @_noahEP: @IGGYAZALEA dope meeting you tonight.. Cant wait til your officially part of the team.. < Yup!!! ^.^In an interview with Vibe, the modelesque rapper opened up a little about her relationship with A$AP Rocky (one of 2011’s Hottest Breakthrough MCs), explaining why she got “Live. Love. A$AP” and "The New Classic" tatted on her fingers.
On their relationship: “I don’t know how to put it. It’s like… I… I don’t know… I love him and that’s all there is to it. We have our own thing going on and I’m not the only one that [got the tattoos]. I’ll tell you that. I’m just the only one with it on my fingers!”
How they first hooked up: “We have a mutual friend Chase N. Cashe. He kinda showed me their stuff and he showed them mine. I came out to New York for the CMJ festival, and I couldn’t make their shows, but I got some of their numbers and was like, ‘When you’re out in LA and you do a show, I’ll come support.’ They ended up coming out a few weeks later, and Chase introduced us all. I was supposed to be doing a song with Rocky but… [Laughs]”
On a collaboration between the two: I mean, we would do a song, but with everything that’s kind of going on, I think it would be kinda corny right now. Like, 'Rocky and Iggy do a love duet!' [Laughs]
