Comedian Kevin Hart could find himself behind bars for up to a full year after being officially charged with driving under the influence this week.

According to reports, Hart will have to handle his two misdemeanor counts of DUI in the courtroom.

Comedian Kevin Hart has been charged with DUI -- not unexpected ... after he allegedly drove drunk and nearly slammed into a tanker truck and then confessed to his wastedness. TMZ broke the story ... Hart was arrested for DUI almost two weeks ago after CHP spotted him speeding and driving erratically on an L.A. freeway. We're told cops clocked Kev at 90 MPH and watched as he almost collided with a gas tanker truck. Our sources say Hart blew almost DOUBLE the legal limit -- .15. The L.A. City Attorney has charged Hart with two misdemeanor counts of DUI. If convicted, he faces up to a year in jail, but the reality is ... first offenders almost never get sentenced to the pokey. (TMZ)

The comedian's arrest turned into a hot topic earlier this month.

Los Angeles traffic police arrested the stand-up comic on "suspicion" of drunken driving early Sunday. They observed him speeding down a freeway at 90 mph in his black Mercedes, weaving across traffic lanes and almost running into a gas tanker truck, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement. When patrol officers pursued him, he took an off ramp and pulled over, police said. (CNN)

Hart was then given a sobriety test, which he failed, and found himself in handcuffs.

Kevin Hart isn't laughing about this. The California Highway Patrol confirms to E! News that the comedian was arrested under suspicion of DUI around 4:30 a.m. Sunday after officers spotted Hart driving erratically at a high rate of speed and witnessed him almost colliding with a gas tanker truck. He was pulled over after failing a field sobriety test and was arrested. (Today)

Shortly after his arrest, the comedian posted bail and escaped the jail scene.

Hart was taken into custody thereafter. By 6 am he was given a DUI misdemeanor charge. The actor posted a $5000 bond. By Sunday morning, Hart was released. Reports claim that Hart allegedly was given a second charge as well. (LA Late)
