Eminem Tells Us Detroit Residents To 'Stay Up' In Uplifting Clip To Detroit, And We Luv Eminem!

Eminem

Despite his superstar status, Eminem has always made it a point to represent his hometown of Detroit, through the city's struggles and economic downturn. In further support of his city, the rapper recently dropped a video clip (we spotted at MissInfo.tv), he calls "Letter to Detroit," in which he sends a message to its working class citizens. Em talks while clips of everyday Detroit people, its bridges, and buildings on its skyline, are splashed across the

screen."Detroit, there is a resilience that rises from somewhere deep in your streets. You can't define it, but you can feel it. You can feel it overflowing from the people who call you home. The people who will always proudly declare, 'I'm from Detroit.' "Em says as the clip begins.

"You took our country from its infancy into industry," he continues. "Your name still carries with it the idea of a nation built on steel, muscle and sweat. You became the city to carry the country. The city, like the sport, is built on dreams, people who arrived here driven to excel. who know that nothing is accomplished without hard work and without sacrifice. When you hurt, we hurt. "As the over two and a half-minute clip continues, Em goes on to express grief over the shuttered factories, unemployment, and foreclosed homes. He pays specific tribute to Motown, Cadillac and boxer Joe Louis as Detroit's iconic exports, while saying the city will never stand down because it has never come close to actually being defeated.

It's meant as an uplifting message to Detroit's people, and shows that Eminem has never forgotten where he came from. Despite the hardships, Em reminds citizens, "Stay up Detroit," as the clip comes to a close

So Detroiters and even non-Detroiter’s think about this clip? Do it make us Detroiter’s feel good about where were from (even though everyday I try to move to a different state where I can make my dreams come true, and is able to enjoy jus normal things that Detroit doesn’t offer such as: Hope, Success, Stability, Dreams, Non-Haters, No more Suffering & A Job most of all) & that we have such a big Superstar like Eminem to represent The Motor City? And are non-Detroiter’s kinda of jealous that they don’t have a huge Grammy winning, Multi-platinum selling, Actor & Genius MC like Eminem to be a spokesman for their hometown?
