After making headlines earlier this week for flaunting bags and containers of marijuana in a photo, rap star Soulja Boy Tell Em's camp has come forward to set the record straight.
A rep for Soulja Boy tells TMZ ... the photo was taken inside of a marijuana dispensary in California earlier this month. The rep says the shop is owned by Soulja's friend ... who invited him to come check out the joint. We're told Soulja was amazed by the inventory and HAD to take a pic. Soulja's rep insists the rapper did not purchase any marijuana that day. (TMZ)
Soulja Boy's weed photo has circulated online for the past few days.
Soulja Boy won't have to worry about of running out of flammable purple flowers on 4/20. The Atlanta rapper posted a picture on Twitter of himself surrounded by the sticky icky. Once posted on the social networking site, the godfather of weed Snoop Dogg retweeted the pic as part of his Puff Puff Pass Tuesdays. Many wondered where the "Turn My Swag On" creator was at the time of the photo. (The Urban Daily)
Last October, the rapper was arrested in Georgia on a drug charge.
Temple Police spokeswoman officer Dana Rampy said the policeman who made the stop searched the car and found "a substantial amount" of marijuana, cash and handguns in the vehicle. Way and his four travelmates were each charged with marijuana possession, marijuana possession with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and were taken to the Carroll County Jail. "It was a lot of marijuana," Rampy told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, although she could not disclose the exact amount. "All of the individuals were very cooperative," she said. (Access Atlanta)
He later came forward and denied the accusations.
Soulja Boy was arrested Tuesday, October 18 morning on marijuana and gun possession charges. The 21-year-old rapper, however, is adamant he's innocent. In fact, he proclaimed his innocence to his screaming fans when he walked out of jail after posting a $10,000 bond later that day. "I'm innocent man. I love you all. I just want you'll to know I'm innocent," declared the "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" MC, whose real name is DeAndre Way. CBS Atlanta detailed that he made the quick statement while being escorted to an awaiting car outside a bail bond company by his bodyguards. (Ace Showbiz)
