HOT 97′s Program Director defends Rosenberg’s Nicki Minaj insult (Video)!

If you haven’t been following the drama surrounding Nicki Minaj’s beef with New York’s Hot 97, basically what happened was Hot 97 morning show host Peter Rosenberg took the mic during a pre-Summer Jam festival and sh*t on Nicki Minaj’s single “Starship”, saying:
“I know there’s some chicks here waiting to sing ‘Starships’ later, I’m not talking to y’all right now. F*ck that bullsh*t. I’m here to talk about real hip-hop sh*t.”
Nicki Minaj, and her boss Lil Wayne took offense to Rosenberg’s comment. (The truth hurts?)
Wayne, who was already feeling some kind of way after being dissed by the Oklahoma City Thunder NBA team, took to his Twitter page to complain bitterly about Rosenberg’s insult.
This is what happens when celebrities bite the hands that feed them. Once rappers reach a certain plateau in their careers, they get amnesia and they forget that the big market radio stations (and their fans) are responsible for their careers.
When no apologies were forthcoming from Rosenberg or Hot 97 — Nicki Minaj pulled out of the HOT 97 Summer Jam.
Wayne (who was set to make a surprise appearance that night) and other YMCMB artists, DJ Khaled, Busta Rhymes, and Ace Hood, also pulled out of the concert.
But the beef didn’t stop there. Hot 97′s biggest competitor, Power 105.1 got in on the act by taking sides with Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj.
Host Angela Yee said: “Common sense would say ‘ok this is our star for the evening, we actually hired her because she can sell the tickets, so let me not get on stage and diss her.’”
Yee’s co-host, DJ Envy, added: “Lil Wayne made the perfect decision; I would’ve pulled her a long time ago. They belittle women, and lets be serious they’re the number 8th morning show in the market. The Donkey of The Day this morning goes to Hot 97 as a crew, as a staff, and as a motherf*cking label.”
As the drama intensified all over the blogosphere Monday, Nicki called into Funkmaster Flex’s show on Hot 97 to plead her case. CLICK to hear that audio.
After all was said and done, Hot 97 still refused to back down or to apologize to Nicki or Wayne.
Here’s a video of HOT 97′s program director Ebro Darden defending Rosenberg’s comments on the air (“Nicki was not the headliner — Hot 97 was.“)
