The YMCMB femcee took a breather from her fast paced career and sat down with Tim Westwood for a quick interview.
The Queen Barbie shared details on her music video kiss with Nasty Nas and why she chose her hometown homie to star as the love interest in her “Right By My Side” clip.
Westwood attempted to stir the pot, insinuating that Nicki was the reason behind the unfortunate divorce of Nas and Kelis, but Ms. Minaj kept it cool and joked off the ridiculous rumor with the UK DJ, saying:
"You know what Tim, it worked. It was like… hip-hop. Queens. Royalty. Outside of the kiss, it just had so much chemistry. It seemed like a real relationship, just a real hood relationship. And I wanted to portray that. I wanted the song to feel like your “around the way” relationship.”
Soon after, conversation quickly turned to her labelmate Drizzy Drake, and his NYC ‘bar brawl’ with R&B crooner Chris Brown. On the entire controversy, Ms. Minaj said:
“You know- Young Money till the death of me. I don’t approve of talented people doing things that aren’t conducive to an amazing career…. I spoke to Drake and I told him from the bottom of my heart how I felt… I told him to remember who you are. Sometimes you just might need to go to bed- have an early nap- I do it all the damn time.”
