Aretha Franklin’s Son Attacked & Hospitalized In Detroit!

Eddie Franklin, 52, the gifted gospel singing son of Detroit's Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, was attacked at a gas station near Plymouth and Evergreen on Monday night in Detroit. 

According to Gwendolyn Quinn, Aretha's spokeswoman, Eddie was attacked by three people – two men and a woman – and has undergone emergency surgery.  Quinn said Eddie's condition wasn't immediately known and Detroit Police said they were looking into the matter but had no further information.

The Washington state woman who said a stranger threw acid on her face admits she inflicted the injuries on herself and made up the attack story, police said today.

Bethany Storro told police an unknown woman threw acid on her face outside a Starbucks in Vancouver, Wash., causing disfiguring burns. Bethany Storro, 28, had claimed an unknown woman approached her outside a Starbucks in Vancouver, Wash., on Aug. 30. Storro said the woman asked her, "Hey, pretty girl, want something to drink?" then threw acid in her face. Storro suffered disfiguring burns on her face. Police released a composite sketch of the attacker, described as a black woman with a ponytail, but they were unable to find any witnesses who had seen the incident. "During the course of the investigation, several discrepancies began to emerge regarding the alleged attack," Vancouver Police Chief Clifford Cook said today, according to KOMO News. Police served a search warrant at Storro's home this morning and removed several items. They did not say what those items were. After the search, police interviewed Storro again, and they said she admitted she made up the whole thing.

Blankstare Dead Baby Wakes Up In Coffin

A newborn girl declared dead by doctors in Mexico surprised mourners when she came back to life inside her coffin.Hidalgo state Attorney General Jose Rodriguez says the parents heard a strange noise coming from the casket during the baby's wake. When they opened the coffin, they found the infant crying and very much alive.The baby was born prematurely on Monday and was pronounced dead by a doctor at a hospital in the town of Tulancingo. The doctor is now being investigated for possible negligence, Rodriguez said. The baby is in stable condition at a different hospital.

Shelley Malil, the actor best known for playing an electronics-store clerk in 'The 40-Year-Old Virgin,' testified Thursday that he stabbed his girlfriend 20 times by mistake. Malil said he thought Kendra Beebe was somebody else getting ready to attack him, PEOPLE reports. "I'm sorry," Malil said in a Vista, Calif., courtroom. "I had no idea. I saw the pictures for the first time, I was stunned. When I look at those pictures, I still can't believe the knife I was holding was responsible for all those injuries."The actor pleaded not guilty to charges of premeditated attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and residential burglary. Malil is facing a possible life sentence. Beebe was stabbed at her San Diego County house in August 2008 after Malil found her socializing with another man, David Maldonado. He felt threatened and believed Maldonado was going to kill him. He recalls getting "hit from the back on the side of the head. It felt like cold granite countertop." "I don't know what it was, but someone was hitting me with something and all I had was this knife and I just went bananas with the thing," Malil said. Malil started slashing out in defense not realizing he was actually stabbing Beebe. Earlier this month, Beebe told the jury that Malil had been jealous and controlling, had broken up with her at least once and at one point blocked her phone calls. "This was a very unhealthy relationship," Beebe said to the defense attorney. "I think you've illustrated that." The trial will continue with cross-examination Monday, and closing statements are expected Tuesday.

Boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr. is a suspect in a battery domestic violence case, TMZ reports. Multiple police cars showed up at Mayweather’s home early this morning after receiving a call at 5:03 AM from Floyd’s baby mama, Josie Harris, who claimed the boxer attacked her. Sources tell TMZ Harris went to Southern Hills Hospital in Las Vegas at some point after the incident and has now left. Law enforcement sources say police were unable to find Floyd and are now looking to interview him. Harris accused Mayweather of punching and kicking her inside a Bentley in Vegas in 2003. Charges were filed but dismissed in 2005 after Harris testified she lied to cops because she was angry that Floyd had left her for another woman.
